BufferOverrun
It is so obvious that the name inspiration comes from my favorite programming Q&A site : StackOverflow.com
This page has nothing to do with programming Q&A. This geeky term “Buffer Overrun” used here only for being a metaphor of my absent-minded nature – I keep forgetting a lot of details when I program. I can hardly remember, in Java, if the size of an array is referred by a property called size or length…or it is calculated by the count() method?
The most important thing when I program is to open Firefox and search for the online API, for whichever language I am working with. And after that, I soon forget, AGAIN.
I can never keep the stuff I just read in mind forever (in that case, the memory buffer is always there for me to refer back later), for a couple of reasons like I must sleep (power off) on everyday, and swap to other stuff either concurrently (multitask and buffer lost) or later (buffered flushed already).
Reading a book definitely overwrites the buffer in mind with abundant information, but the question is if the buffer overruns, it becomes “incoherent”, left in pieces here and there, which is exactly what I’ve got in my memory section for programming.
To make this situation even worse, I have got too many programming books to read that I ended up with a pile of unread books… Cost me a lot and helped me so little… (Now I see the reason why there is a thing called library on earth…)
I am now reminding myself that if I open a new programming book, I am gonna read it through. To help myself track my reading record, I would use some online bookmark system to push me moving forward from stopping again.
